Chester-East Lincoln track and field athletes have a good showing at State

There was a slew of Panther gold at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria over the weekend as Chester-East Lincoln sent 19 athletes to participate in the 2018 IESA Class A State Track and Field Meet.


Grace Curry of CEL crosses the finish line in the 100m dash at State.

Grace Curry had the best overall finish for the gold and black competing in seventh grade girls events. Curry finished in 11th place in the 200m dash with a run of 28.89. Curry also ran the 100m dash with a time of 14.40 which earned her a spot in the 29th position among state runners.

Keira Hoffert also had a good day throwing the discus. Hoffert finished in 12th place in the seventh grade girls discus with a throw of 71' 9".

Two of the best finishes for the boys were in the relay teams:

The seventh grade boys 4x200m relay finished in 12th place with a time of 1:54.77.

The eighth grade boys 4x100m relay finished in 12th place with a time of 50.10.

The rest of the boys events included:

Timmy Lawal, who finished tied for 26th place in the seventh grade boys 800m run with a time of 2:33.78

Sean Raffa, who finished in 30th place in the eighth grade boys 200m dash with a time of 26.54.

Garrett Slack, who finished in 13th place in the eighth grade boys 400m dash with a time of 56.54.

Jaden Klopp, who finished in 50th place in the eighth grade boys 800m run with a time of 2:28.74.

Tony Gandolfi, who finished in 28th place in the eighth grade boys long jump with a jump of 17' 7".

The rest of the girls events included:

Nevaeh McCree, who finished in 19th place in the seventh grade girls shot put with a toss of 24' 9.25".


Dulcie Rickord competed in the 100m hurdles at State.

Dulcie Rickord finished in 16th place in the preliminaries of the girls eighth grade 100m hurdles with a time of 17.56.

The girls eighth grade 4x100m relay finished in 20th place with a time of 56.30.

Congratulations Grace Curry, Keira Hoffert, Garrett Slack, Sean Raffa, Timmy Lawal, Jaden Klopp, Tony Gandolfi, Nevaeh McCree, Dulcie Rickord and the eighth grade boys 4x100m relay, seventh grade boys 4x200m relay, girls eighth grade 4x100m relay teams on representing Chester-East Lincoln at State!
