Illini Central places four athletes in the top ten at State

It was an outstanding finish for the Cougars of Illini Central at the 2018 IESA Class A State Track and Field Meet in East Peoria over the weekend. Coach Jim Newell had four of his athletes finish in the top ten in their events.

Leading the way was Zach Entwistle. He placed seventh in the boys seventh grade shot put and earned his place on the podium to be recognized. Entwistle's best throw was 35' 9.5".

Belle Kelly finished in eighth place in the girls eighth grade high jump. Kelly jumped 4' 8" in this event. Kelly also finished in 24th place in the long jump with a leap of 14' even.

Madison Hughes just missed the podium recognition in the seventh grade girls 100m hurdles. Hughes finished in ninth place with a time of 17.55.

Kyleigh Keihn completed the top 10 with her 10th place finish in the girls seventh grade discus. Keihn threw the discus 72' 8" on Friday.

And finally in the seventh grade girls 4x100m relay the Cougars tied for 11th place with a time of 57.87.

Congratulations to Zach Entwistle, Belle Kelly, Madison Hughes, Kyleigh Keihn and the seventh grade girls relay team on representing Illini Central at State!
