Lincoln softball falls to Taylorville

[May 19, 2018]    The Lady Railers Softball Team watched the game slip away early on Tuesday and could not recover in a 4-0 loss to Taylorville.

Taylorville fired up the offense in the first inning and plated two runs. They added insurance runs in the third and sixth innings off Lincoln starter Kerstin Osborne.

Osborne surrendered four runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out eight.

Taylorville's Megan Behl pitched a no-hitter against Lincoln.

In game two versus Taylorville on Wednesday Lincoln struggled to find a groove and got beat 10-2.

Taylorville had two big innings, scoring five runs each in the third and sixth innings.

Osborne led things off in the circle for Lincoln and she surrendered ten runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out four and walking one.

Osborne, Mya Kate Kirgan, Sydney Worth and Jacey Cooper all collected hits for Lincoln.

Following the losses, Lincoln coach Darrin Worth said, "We got beat 4-0 but played really good defense. The pitcher for Taylorville shut down our bats. We didn't get a hit and only had one base runner. The second game we got beat 10-2 and our defense didn't have a very good game. We made too many errors and when you have two good pitchers going after each other you can't afford to make any mistakes. Kerstin pitched both games and pitched well. She threw 12 innings and gave up only five earned runs."

"We have regionals at our place Monday, May 21 against Lanphier, and if we win we play Tuesday against Chatham," he added.
