MOUNT PULASKI

This year's Mount Pulaski Memorial Day special activities and services are planned.

On Saturday May 26th at 9 a.m., the Legion, VFW, Sons of the Legion, members of Mount Pulaski Fire Department and Scouts will be placing flags on the graves of all veterans and firemen. The public is invited to help.

This is an opportunity for a family to place a flag on a loved one's grave. Flags will be provided. If the flag holder is missing from your loved one's grave, you may call 217-792-5928 to purchase a replacement.

Memorial Day Services are planned at Mount Pulaski Cemetery for Monday, May 28th, at 10 a.m.

During the services, there will be the wreath ceremony. Children are asked to bring flowers and place them at the Memorial.

Following the address there will be a salute to fallen comrades.

The veterans will then proceed to Vonderleith Living Center to greet any veteran who resides there.

Memorial Day Services at Steenbergen will begin at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend and view Avenue of Flags.

The Legion, VFW, VFW Auxiliary, and Sons of the Legion will serve a lunch at the Legion from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. There will be a free-will donation with proceeds to help maintain the Veterans' Memorial.
