First Presbyterian Calendar for November

Lincoln Christian Church Welcomes Gene Appel This Weekend

204 N. McLean St., Lincoln

On Sunday, November 4, Lincoln Christian Church will be hosting Gene Appel, formerly of Lincoln, Illinois and currently Senior Pastor of Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California as their special guest speaker to kick off the church’s Legacy Maker series. The title of Gene Appel’s message is “The Decisions We Make Define Our Legacy.”

Gene Appel is currently Senior Pastor of Eastside Christian Church in Anaheim, California which averages over 7,000 people in weekly attendance with church campuses in Anaheim, La Habra, and Bellflower, California, and Park Rapids, Minnesota. Eastside was named the second fastest growing church in the country according to Outreach Magazine.

Gene is a graduate of Lincoln Community High School and Lincoln Christian University. He has previously ministered in Las Vegas, Nevada and South Barrington, Illinois. Appel’s father, the late Leon Appel, was minister at Lincoln Christian Church from 1950-1970.

“We are thrilled to have Gene Appel speaking for us this Sunday at Lincoln Christian Church.” says Ron Otto, the current minister at Lincoln Christian Church, “He is one of the most sought after speakers in the country. He routinely speaks to thousands of people each weekend and tens of thousands when he speaks at conferences. I know that everyone who hears Gene’s message will both enjoy and be challenged by what he has to say.”

Otto continues, “We invited Gene Appel to kick off our ‘Legacy Maker’ series because the Appel family’s legacy in Lincoln is sharing God’s message of Jesus Christ through many generations.”

Appel will be preaching at all four of Lincoln Christian Church's Sunday worship services: The 8:15 a.m. traditional service in the the Sanctuary and 8:15, 9:30, and 11:00 a.m. contemporary worship services in the Fellowship Center. Everyone is welcome to attend!
