Noe Vela Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

[November 20, 2018]   On November 6, 2018, Noe Vela was sentenced to a fully negotiated plea agreement.

As part of the agreement, Noe Vela pleaded guilty to Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a class 2 felony, and was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by 2 years of mandatory supervised release.

On July 5, 2018, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department conducted their annual sex offender registration verification. At that time, Noe Vela was registered to 612 Market Street, Emden, Illinois. Upon investigation, it was learned that Noe Vela had been residing on a temporary basis in Hoopeston without proper registration.

The offense is a class 3 felony. In this case, however, the offense was charged as a class 2 felony based upon Noe Vela’s prior conviction of the same offense in 2013 in Vermillion County.
