[November 20, 2018]    The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team suffered their third one-point loss of the season on Monday evening. This time it was a double-overtime loss to the William Woods University Owls (NAIA).

Lincoln took the early advantage going up 11-4 early in the first half and held a 35-26 advantage at halftime.

The Owls came out strong after the break and tied the game just three minutes into the second half. LC responded with a 16-to-6 run of scoring to go up by ten (54-44) with 11:10 to play. WWU then began to chip away at the Lincoln lead and managed to tie the game at 63-63 on a free throw with just 21 seconds remaining to force overtime.

At the end of the first overtime period, Lincoln held a slim 75-73 lead with just two ticks left on the clock, but a personal foul sent the Owl’s Ausitn Curry to the line. Curry hit both free throws to send the game to a second overtime.

The Owls grabbed the momentum in the second overtime and took their largest lead of the game, going up 88-84 with just four seconds left to play. Lincoln’a Montez Crumble hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, but it was not enough, and Lincoln had to settle for the 88-87 loss.

Lincoln (4-5) is off until November 24th when they will travel to Joliet, Illinois to play Cardinal Stritch University at 6:00 PM.
