LINCOLN

It was previously stated that the boil water order may be lifted in 36 hours, but at this time the boil water order and conservation measures remain in effect until further notice for all customers in Illinois American Water’s Lincoln District.

We will let you know when it has been lifted.

Customers should bring their tap water to a rolling boil for five minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.

Water is OK for bathing, washing, or other common uses. Customers should continue to conserve water usage until further notice. Please use water only for essential needs as the water system continues to restore to full capacity.

The boil order and conservation request are due a power outage Sunday night at our water treatment plant that caused decreased water pressures throughout the water distribution system. Many customers experienced no water service for a limited time.

Anytime water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch in any part of a community’s distribution system, a boil water order must be issued as a precaution to protect customers, in accordance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
