This candy bouquet donated by Kroger employees before their closing in September brought a sweet $500 winning bid. The pink pumpkin was purchased by Clay Jennings.  The bid was made all the sweeter when Collision Concepts owner Erv Guyett said he would match the first item to bring $500. Therefore, the candy bouquet brought in a total of $1,000 for Relay for Life of Logan County.

The royalty and their chaperones acted as assistants providing info for auctioneer Mike Maske and keeping track of winning bids and dollar amounts. Thanks to some excellent assistance from these young ladies, Maske sold 51 pink pumpkin entries in one hour.

 

And let the Auction begin! The first item to go is highlighted by Queen Schempp. The Pretty in Pink Latte donated by Remington Seed in Lincoln and designed by Nicole Lee and Carrie Turner brought $50 and was purchased by Graue Chevrolet.



Junior Miss Logan County Julia Collins holds up a donation made by the Oasis Senior Center and designed by Nancy Cunningham. The piece named Bingo Flamingo brought $100 and was purchased by June Bock.

 

Josh Fulk (Little Miss Kylee’s dad) holds his paddle high for Maske to see. Fulk bid on a lot of items throughout the night, and won two. The items he purchased were donated by Charron’s Auto Repair – Carol Charron designer and Deco Designs – Janet Webb and Darla Kissel designers.

 

Junior Miss Logan County took a time out from being Vanna to become a bidder! With permission from her parents, delivered to members of the committee, Julia chose a pumpkin and sent a pic to her mom, who gave her the go to bid, bid, bid, and she did. Julia bid on and won the pumpkin donated by Chris Coyne and Tia Taylor – designed by Tia.

 

This pretty pink lap blanket was a last minute donation made by the folks at Friendship Manor. The item sold for $100 and was purchased by Dale Pritchard. Dale said she planned to get good use out of the blanket this winter as she always gets a chill in the evenings!

 

Erv and Cindy’s son, Ryan Guyett, couldn’t resist getting into the action when this item was held up for bid. Filled with goodies from Abe’s and put together by Jessica Scohy and Sara Staker, Ryan paid a whopping $350 for the treat box.

Queen Molly and Little Miss Kyle check out the Cinderella Pumpkin Coach with cookies, cupcakes and a Cinderella Barbie. The item was donated by R.W. Garrett Insurance and created by Nancy Schaub. While the girls admired the entry, the big winner when the bidding was finished was Elaine Aue. Schaub’s design brought in $200 for Relay for Life of Logan County.

 

Cindy Guyett and Roy Logan came forward at the end of the auction. Both expressed sincere appreciation to all those who donated items, as well as the people who bought them. All together, the auction brought in more than $6,000 for Relay for Life.

Both Guyett and Logan are responsible for bringing the idea of a Pink Pumpkin Auction to Collision Concepts and Lincoln Daily News. Both have dear friends who have battled cancer in one form or another. Guyett explained that her best friend is a breast cancer survivor, which is in part what drives her personally to do all that she can to support breast cancer awareness and the work done through the American Cancer Society.
