[October 13, 2018]      

On Thursday, October 4, 2018, fifth graders from across Logan County traveled to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

This Student Enrichment Trip was sponsored by the Woods Foundation, made possible by the generosity of Robert J. and Joan J. Woods. Students from Lincoln Elementary District #27, Chester-East Lincoln, Carroll Catholic, Hartsburg-Emden, Mount Pulaski, New Holland-Middletown, Olympia South Elementary, West Lincoln-Broadwell, and Zion Lutheran Schools in Lincoln and Mount Pulaski all participated and enjoyed an exciting day in Chicago.

As the students were leaving, many of them were anxious to share their favorite part of the trip. Northwest fifth grader Savanna Begolka said, “I really enjoyed the Extreme Ice exhibit because we were able to touch an ice glacier.” Ryne Metelko from Central School liked the hamster wheel track that was able to track your heartbeat, breathing, and your miles per hour. Andrew O’Toole from Washington-Monroe said, “I really liked the brain games, and the movie in the theater.” Students from across Logan County enthusiastically stated that this was their favorite field, and they wish that they could do this every year!
