			LINCOLN

In the middle of practice Thursday night Lincoln Youth Football
Commissioner Wesley Fuchs called the players together. It was time
to thank the many volunteers who make the program such a huge
			success.
Fuchs, a dad himself, reminded the youth that many adults gave up
countless hours to coach, run concessions, help with equipment, and
pitch in when/where needed. Fuchs emphasized to the players that the
volunteers spent time away from their families to help them. His
comments were met with a loud round of applause from the players.

A lot of work happens off the field in order for the program to be a
success and each year awards are given in appreciation. This year
there were three nominees for Volunteer of the Year: Tiffanie Glenn,
Tara Morris and Annette Jones. Each candidate was a member of the
Booster Club, newly formed this year. These ladies helped with
concessions, spirit wear, and the home coming parade, as well as,
helping anytime they were asked to do something. Team members
cheered when the announcement was made that Annette Jones was chosen
			“Volunteer of the Year.”

Annette spent practices in the shed in case anyone needed anything
and because of her time with them in addition to her family, several
of the players called her “mom.”

There were, also, three nominees for “Coach of the Year:” Sean
Ferguson, Sam White and Bill Gandolfi.

Ferguson was assistant director of the board. While his team allowed
the opponents to score in just a couple of games, his is team was
			undefeated.

White was treasurer of the board. This was his first year of head coaching and
he did his best to “keep the seniors under control.” Fuchs said, “Sam has done
as much the last three years for this program as anyone.”

Gandolfi has been coaching for three years, was the 2017 “Volunteer of the Year”
and hasn’t stopped. He was, also, recognized for being the one to paint the
fields.

Fuchs announced that the 2018 Coach of the Year would be Sean Ferguson.
Teams were reminded that they will play the last games of the season this
weekend. Therefore, they were encouraged to give one last hand for all the
coaches, and with that headed back to practice.

Congratulations coaches, volunteers, and players for another great year of
Lincoln Youth Football League. Your generous gift of time and efforts bring much
value to young lives in our community!
