Swim Team Sweeps Home Double-Dual Event

The Lincoln College Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving team were in action past Saturday in their last home meet of the season. Both teams came out victorious in the double-dual format with University of Saint Mary (NAIA) and Illinois College (NCAA DIII). The men took down University of Saint Mary 114 to 70 and Illinois College 110 to 72. The women defeated the University of Saint Mary 131 to 49 and Illinois College 111 to 89.

The LC women’s team won 9 of the 13 events over the weekend. Colleen Furgeson (Marshal Islands) once again led the way in points for the Lady Lynx by winning the 200 Freestyle and her back-to-back swims in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle. Palua native UB Misech was the second highest point scorer winning both the 100 Butterfly and 50 freestyle. Diver Maddy Christenson (Grand Blanc) also contributed to the Lynx victory by winning the women’s 3 meter diving event.

The men walked away from the meet winning 8 out of the 13 events. Sophomore Macoy Nienas (Sturgeon Bay, WI) lead the way from the Lynx in points winning the 200 Free, 200 IM, and the 100 Free. Diver Juan Maldonado (Kankakee) also won both of his events, taking first in the 1M and 3M diving competitions.

Other notable swims for the men came from Marko Dominovic (Croatia) winning the 100 Backstroke, and Kalen Eyre (Fiji) who won the 50 freestyle.

Lincoln Head Coach Jonathan Jordan said, “We have come off of some difficult meets and losses so far this season. We needed these wins as a confidence booster. I am looking forward to seeing what this team can do in the upcoming weeks as we hit the road.”

LC’s next meet will be at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 3rd.

The Lynx swimming and diving team will be on the road this coming Saturday November 3rd at the Davenport University, Kalamazoo College, and Lincoln College Triangular in East Kentwood Michigan.
