State's Attorney announces sentences for Valentine Lopez and Buford Meacham

Valentino Lopez Sentenced to 9 Years Prison for Aggravated Battery

On August 15, 2018, Valentino Lopez was sentenced pursuant to a fully negotiated plea agreement to 9 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Battery, a class 1 felony.

On April 21, 2017, local emergency personnel responded to the 1300 block of north Kickapoo Street in Lincoln for an unresponsive adult female. The female was treated for heroin overdose and survived. Lincoln Police conducted an investigation which identified Valentino Lopez as a suspect who delivered the heroin which lead to the overdose.

Buford Meacham Sentenced to 2 Years Prison for Driving Offenses

On August 15, 2018, Buford Meacham was sentenced pursuant to fully negotiated plea agreement to 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, a class 4 felony, and Driving While License is Revoked, a class 4 felony.

On May 26, 2018, Lincoln Police were dispatched to the McDonald’s parking lot in Lincoln for a minor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, one vehicle alleged to be involved in the crash drove away at a high rate of speed. Lincoln Police pursued the vehicle. The pursuit went west on Illinois Route 10 out of Lincoln. The vehicle in question was later discovered unoccupied in a field near Burtonview. Lincoln Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Buford Meacham, whose driver’s license was suspended at the time.
