[September 06, 2018]  Ronny Rodriguez and JaCoby Jones hit back-to-back homers during a six-run fourth inning, and the visiting Detroit Tigers battered the Chicago White Sox 10-2 on Wednesday night.

The game was interrupted by a 28-minute rain delay in the second inning and a 33-minute delay in the fifth.

Mikie Mahtook also homered during the big inning, and Jeimer Candelario had a solo shot along with two other hits while scoring twice. Jim Adduci and Nicholas Castellanos contributed three hits apiece and combined for three runs and two RBIs.

James McCann added two hits, a run and an RBI as everyone in the Tigers' starting lineup had at least one hit and either scored or drove in at least one run.

Jordan Zimmermann (7-6), pitching around the rain delays, went the minimum to get the victory. He tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out three.

Chicago rookie starter Michael Kopech (1-1) was pounded for seven runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings. He walked one and fanned six. Kopech had allowed only one run total in his previous three major league appearances.

Leading off the game, Candelario hammered an inside pitch into the upper deck just inside the foul pole. Candelario's 17th homer of the season was just his second since Aug. 7.

Kopech fell apart in the fourth, giving up five extra-base hits during the six-run inning before he was removed. Mahtook, leading off, pulled an inside pitch over the left field wall to get the barrage started. Following a McCann single, Rodriguez also homered to left.

Jones then went to the opposite field for the Tigers' third long ball in four batters. Dawel Lugo doubled and scored one out later on Adduci's double. Dylan Covey relieved Kopech and promptly gave up an RBI single to Castellanos.

Victor Martinez's two-run single and McCann's RBI single in the sixth made it 10-0.

The White Sox broke through in the seventh on a run-scoring throwing error and Jose Rondon's RBI single.

Detroit finished with a 12-7 record in the season series against Chicago.
