[September 06, 2018]  ROCHESTER — William E. “Bill” Barton, 66, of Rochester passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.

Visitation:   Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bisch Funeral Home in Springfield

Service:  Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. at West Side Christian Church, Springfield

Obituary

William E. “Bill” Barton, 66, of Rochester passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born on June 12, 1952 to William Jason and Bette Louise (Smith) Barton. He married Laurie Black on April 8, 2000 in Springfield and she survives.

Bill most recently worked in sales at Scheels in Springfield and previously had been a sales representative for Nelson Systems in Springfield for many years. He attended West Side Christian Church in Springfield. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and also attended Lincoln Christian College. He was one of the founding members of Pioneer Bible Translators in Dallas, TX.

Bill loved to hunt and fish and loved the outdoors. He was also involved in performances at local community theaters. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Everyone knew him by his smile and his stories.

He is survived by his loving wife Laurie and his mother Bette Barton of Bethalto; two sons, Jon Barton of Denver, CO and Will (wife Stephanie) Barton of Springfield; his stepson Camden (wife Ashleigh) Poole of Springfield; his stepdaughter Courtney Poole of Springfield; six grandchildren, Addie, Alexis, Sadee, Remi, Cas, and Ella; his siblings, Candee (husband Mike) Stickney of Kalispell MT, Cindee (husband Derrell) Brame of Granite City and Bob (wife Sheila) Barton of St. Clair, MO; nine nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father William Jason Barton, and his sister-in-law Donna Barton.

 

Funeral Director

Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10 am at West Side Christian Church, 2850 Cider Mill Ln., Springfield. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
