LINCOLN
The Logan County Highway Department will be replacing the Deer Creek
bridge on Primm Road near Lincoln. The bridge is located about one
mile south of Lincoln Community High School.
Tree removal on the project has already begun. The road will be
closed to traffic starting Tuesday April 9th. The road will be
closed for most of 2019.
The existing bridge was built in 1968. The bridge deck and the
sub-structure have significant deterioration. The bridge was
temporarily closed in 2013. Repairs were made, and the bridge was
re-opened with a posted weight limit.
Logan County submitted numerous funding applications for this
project. In 2014, the project was awarded more than $1.7M from the
Illinois Major Bridge Program.

The project was awarded to Freesen, Inc., located in Springfield, Illinois. The
low bid on the project was $1,921,913. Logan County will use local property tax
funds for our share of the project.
This is a large project for Logan County. The bridge will be completely replaced
and the Salt Springs ditch will be re-located further away from the road. This
will result in a much safer roadway. After the bridge is constructed, new
asphalt will be placed to match into the resurfacing project completed a few
years ago.
Cooperation and patience is always appreciated during the construction season as
we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges. Status of our local
construction projects can be found on the News & Closures page of the County
Highway Department website.
