[April 05, 2019]

Millikin University's School of Theatre and Dance will present the production of "HAIR" The Musical Thursday, April 11 – Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 13 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m. Performances will be held at Albert Taylor Theatre located in Shilling Hall on Millikin's campus.

"HAIR" book and lyrics were written by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, with music produced by Galt MacDermot.

In the shadow of the Vietnam War, a group of young hippies challenge the government's role in drafting their friend into service while exploring their right to live in a world of peace, joy, and free love. Will burning a draft card ease the rage of a generation questioning their government's ethical role in shaping the world? This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.

Following the 2 p.m. show on Sunday, April 14, cast members from "HAIR" as well as Director Sarah Crockarell, assistant professor of theatre, will partner with headlineSpavilla hair salon to cut ponytails. The ponytails will be donated to Hair We Share, a non-profit organization that creates wigs through hair and money donations that they donate to people across the nation who suffer from medical hair loss.

The cast will also be selling flower crowns/barrettes, and colorful hair extensions before each show.

Single ticket prices for the show are $18 - $20. Seniors 65 and older, groups of 10 or more, and other discounts are available by phone or in person. Tickets are available through the Kirkland Fine Arts Center Ticket Office by phone at 217.424.6318 or online at kirklandfinearts.com. Kirkland Ticket Office hours are Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. A $2.50 fee will be charged for credit card purchases.
