LINCOLN
The Lincoln Area Music Society Spring Concert was held this
weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The concert delivered
genuinely nice and melodic music directed by Julie Kasa.
The orchesta played a variety from 'The Greatest Showman' and
'Triumphal March.'
Then the chorale, directed by Tim Searby, sang lovely songs; a
tribute to Judy Garland arranged by John Leavitt, Agnus Dei from
Requiem was very beautiful, and Acappella Overtures arranged by Andy
Beck.
The orchestra played the famous songs from 'Beauty and the Beast'
followed by the Chorale singers singing 'The Day of Resurrection'
and 'The Wide Missouri' arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram.

The concert ended with a strong note of 'God Bless America' played
by the orchestra and sung by the chorale.
Along with a fine performance, LAMS also announced its 2019 scholarship
recipients.
Representing Lincoln Area Music Society’s Board of Directors, Donnie Parker
presented two scholarships given by LAMS each year.
Austin Garriott has received a scholarship from LAMS and will attend Illinois
State University to study business with a minor in music.
The other scholarship was received by Laura Centers, who will attend at Western
in Macomb.
The Lincoln Area Music Society is comprised of volunteers. Both the orchestra
and the chorale are open to new members. If you would like to participate in
either organization, you are encouraged to do so. For details on location and
time of rehearsals, contact the directors or watch or an announcement in LDN.
