Hilltoppers win pitcher's dual versus Decatur MacArthur with DeRight on the mound

Mount Pulaski needed a solid pitching performance on Saturday versus Decatur MacArthur and they got it from senior Logan DeRight. DeRight shut down the Generals 1-0 as Mount Pulaski improved to 6-2 on the season. DeRight pitched the complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out nine batters. He did not walk a single batter.

DeRight needed just one run for the victory and he got it in the seventh inning thanks to the heroics of senior Jonathan Shehorn. Tanner Farris walked to start the bottom of the seventh inning and he quickly stole second base. Farris took third on a groundout by Grant Davis. This set the stage for Shehorn to come up clutch with the game-winning hit, a line drive single to right field to score Farris. Mount Pulaski wins the game 1-0 over the Generals with DeRight on the mound

Drew Martin was 2-for-3 at the plate for Mount Pulaski.

Christian Tran got the loss for MacArthur.
