Lone Star and Laundry and Bourbon on Stage
Lincoln College Students Take on Major Directing and Production Roles in Lab Theater Shows

 

[April 12, 2019]  LINCOLN - Two one-act plays, Lone Star and Laundry and Bourbon, open tonight in the Hostick Lab Theater in Lincoln College’s Johnston Center for the Performing Arts.

Performance are nightly through Saturday, April 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The productions are almost entirely student-driven, with Lincoln College students not only performing, but also assuming major directing and production roles.

The two plays were both written by James McLure and are frequently performed together. Each offers different perspectives on life in a small Texas town, using characters that are interrelated. Lone Star focuses on Vietnam veteran Roy and his struggles to readjust to life back home, while Laundry and Bourbon features Roy’s wife, Elizabeth, who faces her own challenges in her hometown.

Student director for Lone Star is Jacqueline Ishmael of Havana, while Miguel Reyes, of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, is the student director for Laundry and Bourbon. Both students have been frequent featured performers in Lincoln College productions.

Tickets are $1 for students and seniors and $5 for the general public.

Lone Star features Kyle Plohr of Rock Island, Roland Williams of Chicago and Brian Kolosvary of Algonquin. Laundry and Bourbon stars Anyah Randolph of Yorkville, Calia Cole of Springfield and Elise Cordes of LaGrange.
