Mount
Pulaski crushes Decatur Eisenhower 12-2

The
Hilltoppers took on Decatur Eisenhower Friday and won 12-2 in
five innings.
After giving up a run to the Panthers in the first inning, the
Hilltoppers came back to score four runs in the top of the
second inning. Todd Kelly's 2-run single and an RBI single
by Drew Martin were the big blows for the Hilltoppers. Jonathan
Shehorn also walked and scored a run in the inning.
The
Hilltoppers scored one run in the top of the third inning on an
RBI single by Lucas Kuhlman.
Mount Pulaski added five runs in the fourth inning. Kelly
started things off with a single. Martin reached base on an
error and Kelly came around to score on the play. An RBI single
by Logan DeRight scored Martin. Ben Fricke was hit by a pitch to
reach base. Tanner Farris singled to load the bases. DeRight
scored on a passed ball just ahead of Grant Davis slugging an
RBI single that scored Fricke. Finally Farris scored on
a groundout to the second baseman by Kuhlman. Mount Pulaski's
lead was 10-1 at the end of this offensive onslaught.

The
Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning but
Mount Pulaski was ready to end this one quickly in the fifth
inning. An RBI single by Martin scored Kelly and even though
Mount Pulaski threatened later and eventually hit into a double
play, Martin was able to score for the Hilltoppers on the hard
hit ball and the lead was 12-2.
Tanner Farris recorded three outs in the bottom of the fifth
inning for Mount Pulaski by way of a groundout, strikeout and
a pop out. His day's work included a fine five-inning effort
highlighted by seven strikeouts. Farris gave up two runs on six
hits as he earned the win.
Todd Kelly was 3-for-3 with two RBI's and three runs scored.
Grant Davis was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Mount Pulaski improves to 9-2 on the season.
