[August 13, 2019]  LINCOLN - Beginning in October, students will now be offered a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Business Administration in conjunction with the many bachelor degree options available at Lincoln College.

“As part of our ongoing effort to return to our roots, I am pleased to announce that Lincoln College will be offering two new master’s degree options,” Lincoln College President David Gerlach said.

Lincoln College was chartered as Lincoln University and offered baccalaureate and master’s degrees from 1865-1929. Since 2015, the College has been intentional in expanding its bachelor degree options, joined four-year athletics via the NAIA, remained committed to affordability via a new price match guarantee, and is now offering in-demand master’s degrees.

“Both Business and Organizational Leadership have been very popular as undergraduate majors and surveying our alumni has shown tremendous interest. Students now have the opportunity to continue their education with Lincoln College after graduating with a bachelor’s degree. Degrees in both fields provide a wide range of career opportunities, preparing Lincoln College students for success post-graduation.”

Lincoln College’s Master of Business Administration degree prepares students to be effective leaders in managing organizational resources, and to function in a socially responsible manner in a diverse, multicultural business environment.  The program will be practitioner and problem-based culminating in a final strategic management capstone portfolio project focusing on a real-world organizational problem. A stand-alone degree format is available as well as a 4+1 format for current Lincoln College business students working toward a bachelor’s degree.

The 4+1 format, Gerlach explained, will enable students to complete a year of graduate studies, saving students significant money. With Lincoln College already the most affordable private college in Illinois comparable to public four-year colleges, the 4+1 option will further enhance the value proposition for students.

Lincoln College’s Master of Science in Organizational Leadership is designed to evaluate and analyze the complex understandings of both “leadership” and “organization,” strategic decision making, leading change in an organization, motivating employees, and advancing culture within an organization. Students develop the skills associated with these themes and cultivate interpersonal skills central to effective leadership across a range of organizations and disciplines. The curriculum culminates in an action research thesis with implementable recommendations in a realistic organizational setting.

Both new degree programs will require approximately 36 credit hours of graduate courses in an accelerated format that is similar to our very popular Accelerated Bridge to Education (ABE) program. Classes will be in an 8-week accelerated hybrid format with one night a week face-to-face and online components that are very convenient to those who are working.
