The Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois Senior Nutrition Meals on Wheels Program will be hosting a winter coat giveaway and food donation on Tuesday, December 10 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the CAPCIL office located at 1800 Fifth St. in Lincoln.

Coats, hats and gloves were donated by St. John United Church of Christ for children in need of warm outer clothing. CAPCIL will accept canned good items during this event and throughout the month of December to help support the Meals on Wheels program. Shelf-stable soups, vegetables and fruit are always good items to donate.

“Meals on Wheels America is proud to partner with Subaru of America for the 12th consecutive year to enable more seniors to live with independence and dignity,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “Since 2008, the Subaru Share the Love Event has helped deliver more than 2.2 million meals and friendly visits to vulnerable seniors nationwide. We’re enormously grateful to Subaru and its retailers for their long-standing commitment to Meals on Wheels and the millions of seniors who depend on it for nourishment and companionship.”

Over the last 11 years, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $145 million to its charity partners. This year’s Subaru Share the Love Event is on track to bring that total to over $170 million, proving there’s no limit to the amount of love we can all share.

“The partnership with Subaru helps our Meals on Wheels program reach seniors in our community that need a warm meal, friendly smile and the feeling of being cared for,” said Becky Leamon, Director of the CAPCIL Meals on Wheels program. “By donating a canned good item, you can help us get shelf-stable food items to our seniors in case they have an emergency arise or if we are unable to deliver due to inclement weather.”

CAPCIL’s Senior Nutrition Program is proud to announce that it will be participating in the 2019 Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America – one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the campaign. From November 14, 2019, through January 2, 2020, Subaru of America will make a donation to the charity of a customers choice at the end of each deal for a new vehicle.
