On Sunday, December 1st the Mission Ministry of St. John United Church of Christ continued their 30 years project of donating coats, gloves and hats to Community Action Partnership Central Illinois (CAPCIL) for the children of Logan County.

Verdeen Ingram and Marlene Wilmert, co-chairs of the ministry presented Becky Leamon from CAPCIL with 193 coats (of the 208 collected), 39 pair of gloves/mittens, 72 hats, 1 headband, 5 scarves and 2 pairs of socks. Earlier this fall 15 coats were donated to Central Elementary School when there was learned of an immediate need.

Ms. Leamon said these coats and accessories will be distributed to the children of Logan County from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, December 10 at the Community Action Office, 1800 Fifth Street, Lincoln.

Volunteers from St. John UCC and from the Meals On Wheels program will help to distribute these coats and accessories. The helpers from Meals On Wheels are linked to helping with this through the “Share The Love” program by Subaru automotive.
