[December 11, 2019]  Sunday at noon Perfect Escape Massage Therapy hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and an afternoon open house at its new location at 222 North McLean Street in Lincoln.

The new location is the third for business owner Kendra Camp, who first opened her doors on Broadway Street in Lincoln 10 years ago. Most recently, the business was located on Fifth Street in a portion of the space occupied by Camel’s Hair’em.

When property owner Seth Goodman moved out of the North McLean address to the new ME Realty offices on Keokuk, Camp recognized an opportunity to do something she could not do on Fifth Street – expand her business.

Conversations with Goodman about the North McLean Street building resulted in Camp moving into what she feels will be the perfect location for her business for years to come.

On Sunday, the doors were opened and the public was invited to stop in any time throughout the afternoon to meet Camp and her staff member Sarah Murduck, and to also tour the building and get an idea of what all is available thanks to the new location.

At the beginning of the open house a ribbon cutting ceremony was held with assistance from the ribbon cut crew at Lincoln Daily News. The ribbon was held by Karen Hargis and Marcia Cook.

Camp and Murdock were joined behind the ribbon by a large number of guests including Camp’s family members. On hand were Camp’s mother and stepfather Michael and Tammy Martin, her father Mike Camp, and her sister Christy Fruge. Joining Murduck behind the ribbon was her young daughter Laila. Also on hand was Logan County Fair royalty Junior Miss Anna Kindred and Little Miss Logan County Jolie Grisham. Lincoln Mayor and property owner Seth Goodman was also present, as were Denise Costello and Michelle Ryan.

Emcee Nila Smith thanked all those in attendance for coming out to show support to Kendra. Smith recalled Camp saying that returning to the heart of the city was like a homecoming for her.

It was noted that bringing all kinds of business to the downtown area is good for the community and that those who are patrons of Perfect Escape may have the opportunity to leave the offices and explore other parts of the downtown area.

Camp said that she had so many people to be thankful to from her family who had supported and helped with the move to her friend and co-worker Murduck, who was excited to make the move with her, to her boyfriend Billy Archer who had helped her with the move and supported her decisions.

Archer was unable to be present for the cut. Later it was observed that he had suffered the loss of a parent earlier in the day and a moment of silence was observed in support of the Archer family.

Camp also thanks Goodman for working with her to make this big move and she sent out special thanks to her clients who have supported her in her business for the last 10 years.

Mayor Goodman also spoke congratulating Camp on her move and saying he was happy to have her in the building and he hopes that they enjoy their new location and do well in the future.

With that, the countdown for the cut took place and Camp was assisted by Sarah and Laila in snipping the ribbon.

Guests were invited to tour the building checking out the therapy rooms upstairs and downstairs. There were snacks and also some other interesting attractions.

Costello and Ryan were on hand representing Scout & Cellar Clean Wines. Costello explained that clean wines are those made with no added sugars but more important no preservative chemicals and no residual pesticides from the fruits used in making the wines.

Camp’s mom, Tammy Martin, had a lovely display of Christmas wreaths and several scattered all around the building, all of which were for sale. One favorite was an Elf on the Shelf wreath near the front door that was actually the first to sell.

Laila Murduck was also selling Christmas related items for her Daisy Scout Troop 6108. Sarah Camp explained that the Daisy Troop was trying to raise money for uniforms. The assortment of Christmas items from cookies to Santa bath fizzes to beautiful hair bows were created and donated by troop members, so all the proceeds would go right to the girls’ uniforms. Murduck said that while Laila was kicking off the day, other troop members would also be coming in to take a turn at the table.

Guests spent the afternoon enjoying refreshments and sampling wines from Scout & Cellar.

The new location for Perfect Escapes is much larger than where Camp has been and the space is very well utilized with private massage rooms and the sauna upstairs, and couples massage area downstairs. The shop also offers wellness products and displays are set up in the front entry way.

Throughout the day there were opportunities to win door prizes including gift cards for free massages.

Congratulations to Kendra on her new location. If you are in the market for a great and fun Christmas gift, why not stop by and grab a gift certificate from Perfect Escape? It could be the ideal gift for the stressed-out workaholic on your Christmas list.
