On Saturday morning, the Cronin Brothers VFW post 1756 and Marine
Corps League Detachment 1336 hosted a free breakfast with Santa at
Freedom Hall in Lincoln.
The popular event saw more families this year, possibly because for
the first time in a few years the weather for the event was actually
good. Families came out in droves to enjoy some excellent breakfast
foods prepared by the VFW and served by the Marines, and to enjoy
some time together. Soon after finishing their breakfasts, kids
rushed to see Santa and his favorite elf.
Santa enjoyed hugs from several children and got lots of laughs from
their sheepish expressions when he asked them had they been good
this year. Some were adamant that they had been good, and others,
threw their little brothers or sisters under the bus, warning Santa
that those siblings definitely belonged on the naughty list.
But Santa loves all children and he is very lenient when it comes to
that naughty list, so there is no doubt that those who came with
their Christmas wishes will still see special gifts from Santa under
the tree on Christmas morning, in spite of their sabotaging
siblings.

A few of the tinier tots were a little skeptical of the red suit and white
beard, while some of the larger kids had a difficult time hiding their
excitement.
In addition to great food and a moment on Santa’s lap, kids received goodie bags
from Santa and the VFW auxiliary was handing out coloring books and other items
for the kids as they came through the food line.
For the families, it was a great time to gather around the table together and
let someone else do the cooking. Everyone seemed to enjoy the great food that
was provided, and they also had a good time snapping their own pics of kids with
Santa.
