Mount Pulaski boys defeat Tri-City in overtime 53-48

Mount Pulaski took on the Tri-City Tornadoes Wednesday night in a makeup game and the Hilltoppers escaped Buffalo with a 53-48 win in overtime.

 

The Hilltoppers led the Tornadoes 14-9 at the end of the first quarter.

 

Tri-City was on top at the half 23-21.

 

The third quarter saw Tri-City stretch that lead to 38-30. Mount Pulaski battled back to only trail 46-44 with under a minute to play.

 

Drew Martin would tie the game 46-46 on two free throws with 3.1 seconds left and send the two teams into overtime. Martin's four points in overtime led Mount Pulaski to the 53-48 win. 

 

Drew Martin led all scorers with 21 points. Martin also hit 11-of-13 free throws in the game. 

 

Mount Pulaski's JV also won over Tri-City by a final score of 54-41.

 

Lane Murphy led Mount Pulaski with 21 points.

 

Aiden Schneider tossed in 10 points for the Hilltoppers. 

 

Mount Pulaski will host Illini Central Friday night with the JV game tipping off at 6 p.m. Varsity is set for 7:30 p.m.
