On Sunday, February 17th The Rev. Tom Norwalk, Association Minister
of the Western Association of the United Church of Christ will
deliver the message at the 10:00 a.m. service at St. John UCC 204
7th Street in Lincoln, Illinois. His message will be informative on
the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA) with which
the Illinois Conference of the UCC has had a fourteen year
partnership. The IECA is a growing denomination of 1.5 million
people and over 2000 churches with ties to the American and Canadian
missionaries.
This ministry has taken on the legacy of the Dondi Mission Station
who prior to 1975, when Angola earned their independence from
Portugal was the leader of education for life, faith, work and
citizenship. Since 2002, the end of the civil war in the country
IECA is opening its university to strengthen the outreach of the
church. One of its needs is Hymnals, which they can obtain for $3
each and will be a Mission project of the churches of Illinois.
