Women's Basketball:  Lady Lynx Finish Season with Win Over SLC

[February 18, 2019]    The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team completed their 2019 schedule with a convincing 18-point victory over Silver Lake College on Saturday. The 67-39 win was the team’s 16th of the year against 13 losses.

 

Lincoln led by nine at halftime (28-19) and was only able to increase their lead by one point during the third quarter, but in the final period, LC caught fire and outscored SLC 22-4 to put the game out of reach.

Junior Forward Erynn Young (Indianapolis, IN) contributed a terrific all-around game by scoring a team-high 23 points, grabbing six rebounds and accounting for three steals. Lincoln Community High School grad Hannah Cameron had 11 points and Kaleia Monteiro (Rockford) had 10 points and seven rebounds.

LC Head Coach DeRonte Polite had high praise for his team's performance. "It was great to end the season with a win," said Polite. his past week we traveled over 1800 miles to play three games in six days. Considering the circumstances, we performed well."

"Today, we had to adjust to the officiating and played more zone than we had all year. We kept our composure and closed out the game with a big fourth quarter."

"I am so proud of this team. The transition brought much adversity but we pushed through and our fans saw us get better through the year. I believe we have built a culture to help propel us to greater success in the future. We are excited about the future of Lincoln College Lady Lynx basketball."
