[February 26, 2019]  The public is invited to an open house introducing a new service on Wednesday, February 27th from 4pm-6pm at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. ALMH is launching the Senior Life Solutions program with an opening date scheduled for March 4. Guests will be invited to tour the newly renovated department, meet with staff and enjoy free refreshments.

Senior Life Solutions addresses coping with issues unique to seniors including declining physical ability, dealing with the loss of loved ones, and experiencing isolation that can lead to depression, anxiety and other emotions. A variety of services are provided by the caring staff including individual, group and family therapy. Medication management is also offered as needed.

There are a variety of reasons that an individual should seek out the Senior Life Solutions program: changes in appetite, difficulty concentrating, unresolved grief, anger, personality changes, depressed mood, anxiety/nervousness, feelings of hopelessness or changes in sleep.

Senior Life Solutions is a 6-12 week program that provides services from 9am-2pm up to four days a week. Participants will receive lunch as part of the program and transportation is provided, if necessary. To be eligible for the program, patients must be 65 years or older with traditional Medicare B or a Medicare Replacement Plan. Disabled Medicare recipients under the age of 65 may be evaluated for admission. A free no-obligation assessment is the first step to joining the program.

The program is led by Ronald Johnson, MD, a board certified psychiatrist. The rest of the team includes Bobby Leebold, a licensed clinical social worker and a registered nurse, Kim Ruch.

According to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services, 17.7% of Logan County seniors have been treated for depression compared to a state average of 15.1%.

“Senior Life Solutions is a much needed program. Our team combines clinical experience, compassion and care for our community. We are committed to supporting seniors so they can live a fuller life and are proud to bring Senior Life Solutions to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital,” said Dolan Dalpoas, ALMH president and CEO.

ALMH is a 25-bed critical access hospital located at 200 Stahlhut Drive in Lincoln. For more information, please call the ALMH Senior Solutions staff at 217-605-5750 or visit ALMH.org.
