[January 07, 2019]  LINCOLN - George O. Henrichsmeyer, 80, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation: Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Christian Church

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at the church

Funeral home: Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln     

Obituary

George O. Henrichsmeyer, 80, of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Funeral Services for George will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jefferson Street Christian Church. Mr. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Steenbergen Cemetery in rural Mount Pulaski.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at Jefferson Street Christian Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service.

George Omer Henrichsmeyer was born October 25, 1938 at St. Clara's Hospital in Lincoln, the son of Omer Ernest Frederick and Lucille Van Hook Henrichsmeyer. He was united in marriage to Janet Gipson on July 2, 1957. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2011.

He is survived by his children: Greg (Valerie) Henrichsmeyer of Lincoln, Gary (Tami Cross) Henrichsmeyer of Arcadia, Fla., and Lauri A. Harris of Lincoln; seven grandchildren: Geoff (Cheryl) Brown, Aaron Brown, Ryan (Samara) Brown, Derek Henrichsmeyer, Emily (Rex) Shawgo, Jonah Harris, and David Henrichsmeyer; and three great-grandchildren: Kennedy Brown, Emory Claire Brown and Weston Avery Brown.

Funeral Director

George was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; one son, Galen; and one sister, Edna Harmon.

He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1956 and retired from CILCO after 34 1/2 years. He then worked for Galen Marten Construction for 10 years.

George was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church and a founding board member of the Lincoln Railsplitters Association, serving on the board from 1971 until 1996. He was a leader of W.D. Boyce Boy Scout Troops for 45 years and served on W.D. Boyce Executive Board, Order of the Arrow, Wood badge, 3 bead W.D. Boyce and Silver Beaver. He was Lincoln Courier Citizen of the year in 1980.

Memorials may be made to Oasis Senior Center.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
