As a precursor to Veterans Day, last week students from Mrs. Shirley's Pre-kindergarten Classes at Adam’s School took a field trip to the Heritage In Flight Museum at the Logan County Airport in Lincoln. Children enjoyed the interactive items at the museum and learned about flight, aviation and the military.

November 14, 2018 - MPHS senior Skylar Hayes stands center court in the Ed Butkovich Gymnasium as the new all-time leading scorer in girls basketball.

The sky is the limit for this young woman, who kicked off the first game of the 2018-19 basketball season by breaking the MPHS girls all-time scoring record that was previously held by Jessica Awe.

Awe, a current 5th grade teacher at MPGS and an assistant basketball coach for the Honeybears, scored 1,687 points in her high school career and set that record in 2013. Hayes broke that mark in the opening round of the Clinton Turkey Tussle Tournament last week.

On Monday morning, (L to R) Lincoln District 27 School Superintendent Kent Froebe, Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman, Lincoln Fire Chief Mark Miller, Logan County EMA Director Dan Fulscher, and Illinois American Water (IAW) Lincoln Operations Superintendent Gabe Bowden offered a briefing on the current water supply situation in Lincoln. The IAW south treatment plant suffered significant damage on Sunday evening from a lightning strike during a storm. The damage caused a loss of water pressure throughout the city and prompted city officials to activate emergency plans for the safety and well being of the community.

Logan County Deputies and Correctional Officers decided to participate in ‘No Shave November.’ The purpose of this campaign is to bring awareness to cancers that are more specific to men. As the men were discussing this they decided to turn it in to a fundraiser for the V Foundation. It was decided to donate the monies raised in Greg “Flako” Feldman’s memory who had passed from cancer, and whose wife, Teena is their secretary.
