At the Regular Logan County Board on Tuesday, January 15th, a motion
to appoint Gene Rohlfs as Airport Manager was brought forward with
recommendation of the independent Airport Manager Advisory
Committee.
The Logan County Airport Manager Advisory Committee met at noon on
Monday, January 7, 2019 to make their decision.
The committee was chaired by Judge David Coogan with members Larry
Collins and Eric Hill of Atlanta, JoAnne Marlin and Bill Sahs of
Lincoln, in attendance.
The purpose of the meeting was to select a person to act as Logan
County Airport Manager. The position was advertised in Lincoln Daily
News, New Herald News, The Courier, and the Logan County website for
the requisite number of days.
Logan County received one resume requesting consideration for the
position of airport manager and a sealed resume was then passed on
to the Advisory Committee.
The person applying for the position was Lincoln resident Gene
Rohlfs, who is currently a member of the Logan County Board and
chairman of the Airport Committee.
The Advisory Committee voted unanimously to recommend Mr. Rohlfs for
the position of airport manager and to forward their recommendation
to the full Logan County Board.
At the Regular Board meeting, Bateman made a motion to approve the
recommendation from the independent Airport Manager Advisory
Committee to hire Gene Rohlfs as the Airport and Farm Manager with a
start date of February 1, 2019, based upon the resignation of Gene
Rohlfs from the Logan County Board by January 31, 2019.

The motion was approved 7-1 with Schaffenacker voting no because he said he
wants to see Rohlfs stay on the board.
Rohlfs was not present for the vote.
As part of the Chairman’s Report, Davenport read Rohlfs’ resignation letter
announcing his decision to resign his position as a Logan County Board member
representing district four to accept the position of Logan County Airport and
Farm Manager.
In the letter, Rohlfs said, “I regret the need for my departure from the board,
but understand it is not permissible to remain on the board and be employed by
the county.” Rohlfs also thanked “the board and the citizens of Logan County for
the opportunity to serve the people as a board member and said he will miss that
but will welcome being able to focus more directly on management duties of two
very special entities of the county.”
Rohlfs officially accepted the position in the letter and he will begin serving
in this role on February 1.
