[January 21, 2019]

Generally when you receive a report on the operation of the police department, “no news is good news.”   However, this meeting will relay information that goes beyond the “status quo”.

Some of you are aware that car and garage burglaries have been frequently occurring throughout Logan County with several in the Mount Pulaski area.

The Mount Pulaski Police Department was instrumental in causing the arrests of four men involved with these burglaries, one of which involved a stolen firearm.

I was patrolling our beloved city during the early morning hours of January 19 when I discovered one of our suspected burglars roaming the streets and alleys of Mount Pulaski.

I requested backup from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. Together, we conducted an investigation that resulted in the recovery of stolen items that included the stolen gun
and the arrest of these four individuals.

I would personally like to recognize Sheriff Mark Landers, Under Sheriff Sean Kindred and the investigations department of the Sheriff’s Office for their involvement. Sheriff Landers emphasized teamwork amongst all area law enforcement entities while campaigning and I am honored to say he is fulfilling that commitment! It was a successful week for area law enforcement!

Police Chief Anthony L. West
