Maple Leafs sign F Kerfoot, D Ceci

[July 05, 2019]    The Toronto Maple Leafs signed a pair of restricted free agents Thursday, working out a four-year, $14 million deal with forward Alexander Kerfoot and a one-year, $4.5 million deal with defenseman Cody Ceci.

 

Kerfoot, 24, was traded to the Maple Leafs from the Colorado Avalanche on Monday along with defenseman Tyson Barrie and a sixth-round pick in 2020 for forward Nazem Kadri, defenseman Calle Rosen and a third-round pick in the 2020 draft.

Kerfoot, a product of Harvard, scored 15 goals with 27 assists for the Avalanche this past season. He has 34 career goals and 51 assists in 157 games, all with the Avalanche.

Ceci, 25, was also acquired this week, in a trade with the Ottawa Senators. He scored seven goals with 19 assists in 74 games for the Senators this past season. The No. 15 overall selection in the 2012 NHL Draft, Ceci has 32 goals and 86 assists in 440 career games, all with the Senators.
