[July 05, 2019]  LINCOLN - Lincoln Public Library District Presents It’s Showtime at Your Library!

The Adult Summer Reading Program is in full swing again this year with many exciting prizes. The Program is open to those 18 years of age and older. It will run from May 28th through Labor Day, with participants being able to register at any time during the summer. Audiobooks and graphic novels will count toward your overall goal. Start thinking of how many books you can read over the summer. Stop by the Annex Circulation desk for more details!

Children, ages 6 months – 5th grade and teens, 6th – 12th grades can participate in our Youth Services Summer Reading Program 2019! Registration is continuing in the Library Annex. Contact us at (217) 732-5732 or check out our website at www.lincolnpubliclibrary.org for more information.

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Does your child or teen have special needs? We’d love to have them participate! Please contact us to chat about how we can best help them enjoy the program.

A library card is not required to participate!

Music & Movement

Tuesdays or Wednesdays 10 am or 11 am

Ages 6 months – 5 years can join us for a half hour on Tuesdays or Wednesdays beginning June 11th at 10 am or 11 am as we sing and dance and get some wiggles out!

STREAM Team

Mondays or Tuesdays at 2 pm

Grades Kindergarten – 2nd grade can participate in hands on activities based in art and science.

Explorer Club

Thursdays at 2 pm or 3:30 pm

Grades 3rd-5th can enjoy hands on projects as we create, experiment, and explore science, art, technology, and more!

Thursday Performers

At 10 am on July 11th, 18th, and 25th, families can register to see wonderful performances from professional entertainers.

July 18th – Mad Science

July 25th – The Magic of Tim Stolba


Oh the Horror! Horror Movie Extravaganza

Friday July 19th 2 – 4:45 pm

Grades 6th-12th will have an opportunity to vote for which classic horror films are watched and be able to create more wacky voting categories for each movie!

CIRCULATION NEWS

Fix-It Lincoln – The Library now offers a new collection of books on maintenance, repair, and upkeep. The books include topics such as automobiles, homes, lawns, health care, musical instruments, boats, and much more. Funding for this grant was awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library.

Links on our Website - Our website has links to many free services, such as Library On The Go, WorldCat, Khan Academy, the improved World Book Web, and our Ask A Librarian service, as well as various downloadable forms. Check out what’s new!

3M Cloud – This is our new ebook database, which is an addition to our existing Library On The Go database. Thousands of titles are available, with more being added weekly, and can be searched via our online catalog. You will need a PIN number to get started. Stop by our Circulation Department for easy instructions.

Zinio – An electronic magazine collection with hundreds of titles. Create your account with Zinio from our website and start reading. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.
 


Going on a trip? – The Circulation Staff can put a hold on any outstanding requests you may have so you will get them when you return. Just stop by and let the staff know your travel dates.

E-mails and text messages – Our computer program allows patrons to receive texts and/or
e-mails for notification of reserved items and overdue notices. If you are interested in this service, please talk to a member of our Circulation Staff.

PIN Numbers – Don’t forget to take advantage of a PIN number (password) for your account. With a PIN, you can search the entire POLARIS system, see what items you have out, and request and renew books from home.

Gift Certificates – Need a gift idea? You can purchase a one year Library card for an individual or complete family that lives out of the library district. We will provide a gift certificate for presenting, and the recipient can bring it in, along with a photo ID and proof of address to receive their own Library Card.

Book Clubs - The Annex Building Circulation Desk collects reading lists for all the Book Clubs in the area. So if you can’t remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you covered. Drop off your lists at the Circulation Desk, or e-mail April Jensen, Circulation Manager, at apriljensen4@gmail.com
