[July 18, 2019]   LINCOLN - The pounding beat from synthesizers and samplers flowing over downtown Lincoln on Thursday evening was not coming from a late night dance club. DJ Jason Hoffman with his musical artistry was once again announcing the opening of the monthly gallery show at the Lincoln Art Institute.

This month Springfield artist Jeff Williams presented a solo exhibition of his talent.

The Lincoln Art Institute is drawing artists from all over central Illinois to the beautiful space. Jeff Williams’ art is much sought after appearing in galleries and private collections all over the country.

“I really admire Jeff’s talent, his use of color and dimension, the realization of his imagination on canvas,” said Lincoln artist Steve Stover.

Jeff’s subject matter runs the gamut from sports to whimsy, and then takes a quick turn into the intensely serious and political.

While Jeff has participated in Logan County Arts themed exhibits at LAI before, this is his first solo show at LAI. He is part of the art scene in Springfield, and many of his fellow artists followed him up Interstate 55 to Lincoln to check out the show.

“New artists bring a different crowd in, including their friends. I was really pleased with the turnout,” said gallery owner Moses Pinkerton. “I’m envious of his talent,” he added.

Evidently the visitors to Jeff’s solo show agreed with Moses and Stover’s assessments of his talent. Many people purchased his paintings for their own collections. “The show was a success for Jeff. He was quite happy with it,” said Moses.

And why not? Jeff Williams got to hang his paintings in the beautiful space of Lincoln’s stellar art gallery and sell several to patrons.

Why is Moses pleased? The Lincoln Art Institute was selected by a successful artist for an important show, and lots of new faces mixed in with the appreciative art lovers in Lincoln.

Jeff Williams solo show will be hanging in the Lincoln Art Institute until it is time to mount the August show of Logan County Arts. Call Moses at 217-651-8355 to arrange a visit.
