Down 7 to 0 after the top of the second, it would have been easy for Post 263’s senior team to give up. After all, they lost their previous game in the 4th Division Tournament by a dozen runs.

However, a furious rally in the bottom of the second ended with 10 runs and a lead Post 263 would never give up, as they won 17 to 7 against Gillespie.

Three walks – sandwiched around a strikeout – led to the bases loaded for Post 263 with just one out. Two wild pitches during an at bat by Devyn Snow plated two runs, and Snow drew yet another walk. Eddie Saner then plated Post 263’s third run with a single to left field.

Three straight walks led to two more runs. Brenden Eigenbrod then struck out, but Keagan Ferguson hit a two-out, two-run single tied the game. A single by Colton Larson and a double by Trent Koehler then gave Post 263 a 10 to 7 lead when the second inning ended.

After holding Gillespie scoreless in the top of the third, Post 263 plated six more runs in the bottom of the inning. That was highlighted by an RBI single by Eddie Saner and yet another two-out hit by Trent Koehler. His two-run single game Post 263 a 16 to 7 lead after three innings.

Post 263 scored once more in the sixth to close out the win. This marks the team’s second win in three games in the double-elimination 4th Division Tournament. Post 263 looks to give its postseason rolling at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mattoon.
