[July 23, 2019]  DECATUR - Gerthel L. Bruce, 101, of Decatur, formerly of Atlanta, passed away at 4:45 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 11, 2019, just three days prior to her 102nd birthday.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Obituary

Gerthel L. Bruce, 101, of Decatur, formerly of Atlanta, passed away at 4:45 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 11, 2019, just three days prior to her 102nd birthday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bruce will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Tony Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Atlanta Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Gerthel L. White was born July 14, 1917, at home in McLean County, the daughter of Maudra White. She married John H. Bruce on July 1, 1936, in Petersburg. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2007, after 71 years of marriage.
 

Funeral Director

Gerthel is survived by their daughter, Sherry (Marvin) Hulva of Decatur; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosemary Pech; one son, Garry Bruce; two brothers; and two sisters.

Gerthel had worked at Lehn & Fink in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
