LINCOLN
Logan County 4-H members Klarissa Helton, of the Middletown 4-H’ers
club, and Emma Rodgers, of the Hollanders 4-H Club, recently
attended the 2019 State 4-H Junior Leadership Conference, Camp LEAD.
This annual event brought together over 100 junior high delegates
and chaperones for a weekend of fun and educational programming. The
conference was planned and organized by the Illinois State 4-H Youth
Leadership Team, including Grace Skelton, from the Middletown
4-H’ers club, who helped lead the weekend events.
As a participant at this junior high conference, delegates develop
their leadership skills, meet and interact with youth across the
state, learn activities and games to use within their own 4-H clubs,
take part in community service, and view state leadership
opportunities in action while networking with the State 4-H Youth
Leadership Team.

Conference state representative.
When asked what she took away from the conference, Helton stated “JLC taught me
how I need to come out of my comfort zone and make new friends. I had such a
great time learning ways to lead others!”
