On Monday evening at the meeting of the Lincoln City Council there was an official changing of the guard within the Lincoln Fire Department.

With the official retirement of Fire Chief Mark Miller, Assistant Chief Bob Dunovsky was sworn in as the new chief. With that promotion came a number of additional promotions to fill the ranks, plus one new hire to keep the department numbers at status quo.

Even though he had officially retired at the end of his shift on Friday, May 3rd, Miller returned to the Lincoln City Council Chambers Monday night to witness Dunovsky’s swearing in and to present the new chief with his official chief’s shield for his fire hat.

The swearing in ceremony for Chief Dunuvski was led by city attorney John Hoblit. Following, Dunovsky was given his shield by Miller, and made his way around the room shaking hands with each of the now eight sitting aldermen.

Dunovsky then took the position where Miller had stood, watching over each of the swearing in ceremonies and presenting shields.

Ty Johnson was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief.

Todd Koehler was promoted to Captain.

Andy Dexter was promoted to Lieutenant.

Andy Carrigan was then installed as the newest member of the Lincoln Fire Department.
