[May 29, 2019]    Right-hander Lucas Giolito pitched eight strong innings, and Charlie Tilson drove in the go-ahead run with a fourth-inning single to boost the host Chicago White Sox to a 4-3 victory against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.

Chicago completed a sweep of the de facto doubleheader after winning the completion of Monday's suspended game 2-1 earlier Tuesday.

Bidding for his third successive complete game, Giolito came within one inning of that feat while allowing three runs on three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts. Alex Colome, who earned the win in the first game Tuesday, struck out two in a perfect ninth in the nightcap to earn his 10th save in as many opportunities.

The White Sox had 12 hits, all singles. Leury Garcia went 3-for-4 with an RBI while James McCann also had three hits. Tilson and Jose Rondon both added two hits for Chicago, which has won five of eight meetings against the Royals this season.

Kansas City raced to a 3-0 lead just four batters into the game, as left fielder Alex Gordon smacked a three-run home run to center field with one out. The success against Giolito (7-1) may have come as a shock given the right-hander's recent success, but he recovered in style.

After throwing 24 pitches in the first inning, Giolito needed just 67 pitches to get through his next six frames. He retired 20 of the next 21 hitters he faced following the Gordon home run, and he didn't allow another hit until Cam Gallagher opened the eighth inning with a single to center.

McCann, Chicago's catcher, extinguished the threat when he caught speedy pinch runner Terrance Gore stealing one batter later.

Royals righty Brad Keller (3-6) spaced four runs and 10 hits in six innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
