Brandon Sutter had two goals and an assist, Quinn Hughes had a goal and an assist and Tanner Pearson provided two assists for the Canucks, who received 37 saves from Jacob Markstrom in their first win of the season.

Elias Pettersson, Chris Tanev, Alexander Edler and Josh Leivo also scored for Vancouver.

Tyler Toffoli and Sean Walker each scored their second goals of the season for the Kings, who were coming off their first win of the season, a 4-3 overtime victory at the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick made 17 saves on 25 shots. He has allowed 14 goals on 56 shots this season.

The Canucks came in 0-for-10 this season on the power play, but Hughes scored on their first man advantage at 5:26 of the first period.

Hughes, who will turn 20 on Monday, is the youngest Vancouver defenseman to score a goal since J.J. Daigneault on April 6, 1985.

Sutter scored 42 seconds later to make it 2-0.

Pettersson, who scored a team-leading 28 goals as a rookie for the Canucks last season, scored his first goal of the season at 2:34 of the second to stretch the lead to 3-0.

Toffoli made it 3-1 at 7:28 of the second period.

He got a step ahead of Vancouver forward Micheal Ferland coming into the Canucks zone, took a feed from Carl Grundstrom and beat Markstrom one-on-one.

Miller stretched the lead back to three goals when he tried to pass the puck into the slot from the side of the net, but the puck hit the skate of Kings forward Ilya Kovalchuk and was redirected into the net at 14:44 of the second period.

Walker scored at 6:51 of the third period to make it 4-2, but Tanev, Edler, Leivo and Sutter scored over the final 12 1/2 minutes to make it 8-2.
