[October 18, 2019]  Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL)’s Hand Up Project-Jobs for Life class begins again on November 4th, 2019. Classes are held twice a week for six weeks and is free for income eligible individuals.

Jobs for Life is a life changing program. Current student, Susan Glaser said, “Taking the Career Key Test helped me realize a new career path and the skills I learned in class helped me land several job interviews. This class has changed my life and I am bubbling with excitement.”

Participants of CAPCIL’s Hand Up Project-Jobs for Life class receive first class job training and mentoring to keep, maintain, and grow in a job. Participants have access to employers, HR Directors, and hiring managers who are actively looking to fill employment gaps in their organizations. They are connected with local colleges and technical training centers to receive the education needed to advance in their career choice. All through this process is a support network that encourages and guides participants along the path to self-sufficiency.

Eighty-eight percent of program participants in Logan, DeWitt, and Piatt Counties have been able to increase their employment status during or upon completion of the class. “Nothing compares to the mentorship and assistance with mock interviews that our students receive from the class Champions.” Said Mike Robbins, CSBG Program Coordinator.
