Logan County small business owner and civic leader, Don Peasley, is honored to announce his candidacy for Logan County Coroner.

As a licensed funeral director of more than 25 years Don has guided families through the loss of a loved one. If elected Logan County Coroner, "I promise to continue serving grieving families with care, dignity, and respect," Don shared. "Serving people during a difficult time has been my life's work, and I would appreciate the community's support when considering their next leader of the Logan County Coroner's office."

Service is a way of life for Don Peasley. Don has spent much of his adult life serving and working with first responders and emergency personnel. In his twenties, Don became a licensed volunteer Emergency Medical Technician, serving in this capacity for over 22 years with the Atlanta Rescue Squad. And since 2014, Don has brought his own experiences to the Logan County Paramedic Board.

In 2002, when he achieved his dream of becoming a Logan County small business owner, Don became an active member of the Lincoln Rotary Club, eventually serving as president. He has also been a member of Atlanta Masonic Lodge #165 since 1994 and Ansar Shrine and Logan County Shrine for many years.

Since childhood, Don has happily given his time, resources, and leadership abilities to the people of Logan County. Don first saw the fruits of service to community and county as a child in Logan County 4-H and high school FFA.

As an adult, he has stepped into many community roles. In 2005, Don was asked to serve on the Lincoln Park District Board and has been elected to that position three times. The Courier recognized Don's service to community in 2013 by designating him a Citizen of the Month.

Many Illinois counties are served in the office of Coroner by active funeral directors. "As Logan County Coroner, I would abide by the Illinois Coroners and Medical Examiners Association Code of Ethics which states that 'the Coroner will not allow the duties, decisions, and obligations to be deferred, influenced, or impeded by personal feelings, prejudices, or friendships and conflicts of interest will be avoided,'" affirms Don Peasley.
