[April 02, 2020]   Lincoln Daily News has been working to share the “heart” of our community through the posting of pictures of hearts on windows around the community. Last week when we posted the first pictures in our daily edition and on our facebook page, we got a lot of responses from the community.

Among those posting was Carrie Groves who had decorated the windows of her church – Mission Church downtown at the corner of McLean and Pulaski Streets.

Over the weekend, Carrie decided to take her personal heart mission a step further by decorating the windows of many of the downtown businesses. She contacted several and asked permission to go out and place colorful little hearts along the edges of their windows.

Some business had already done their own hearts (those will be featured soon), but those who hadn’t were happy to have Carrie volunteer to add “Heart” to their windows.

Chris Parks lends a hand

So, over the weekend and into Monday, Carrie, her daughter Izzy and Carrie’s best Friend Chris Parks set about accomplishing their goal to give a little love to our downtown businesses.

LDN caught up with Carrie and her little band of decorators outside Abe’s Carmelcorn Shop on Monday and grabbed a few shots of the trio in action. We then went around the square and slightly beyond, grabbing shots of their excellent work.
