Storm damages primarily from wind in Logan County

[April 09, 2020]    An early evening storm impacted most of central Illinois, also delivering some of its worst to parts western Iowa and Indiana on Wednesday.

 

Logan County suffered wind damages, with peak wind gusts of 63 mph reported at Lincoln. Massive power outages left nearly if not all Logan County without power. Restoration continued Thursday morning with a line from Atlanta to Elkhart and eastward listed on the AMEREN map as outages.

Shingles were blown off roofs, trees and limbs downed, poles left leaning. More wind is forecasted for Thursday.

Ameren crews were out quickly following the primary storm and most of Lincoln had its power back Wednesday evening. More power outages are possible due to the forecasted winds.

Hail, Logan County seeming escaped this destructive force. Denmark, IA, had whopping four-inch balls. Numerous other areas throughout the area of the storm reported hail, with .75 to .88 inch common. Sherman reported 1.25 inch hail.

Indiana, reported a funnel cloud and one tornado at McCormicks Creek.
