[August 06, 2020]

Community Action Partnership for Central Illinois confirms that the US Census Bureau will start door to door canvassing for all non-response households on August 11th, 2020.

If you have already completed your survey or complete it prior to August 11th, a Census taker will not visit your home.

CAPCIL encourages residents to either self-respond or cooperate with the census takers to ensure the community and state receives an accurate count. Your participation is critical in protecting community resources and services you value most. For every person that is left uncounted, the state of Illinois loses $1,400 per year or a total of $14,000 until the next census count. The decreased state funding can affect schools, healthcare facilities, senior services, infrastructure updates, social services, SNAP and several others.

If you would like to self-respond, please visit my2020census.gov to answer a nine-question online survey, by calling 1-844-330-2020 to complete a phone survey or by calling CAPCIL’s Central Office at 217-732-2159 for live survey assistance.

Households that have not responded will receive a visit from a certified US Census taker.

All Census takers have been trained on social distancing protocols and will follow CDC and local public health guidelines. Each Census taker can be easily identified by a valid government photo ID, U.S Department of Commerce watermark and expiration date. Residents may confirm a census taker’s identity by calling 312-579-1500. Any household member 16 years or older are eligible to answer questions for the residence. Collected information will be recorded using an electronic device.
