Lincoln man dies in Wednesday morning rollover accident

Following is the official report of the accident on Wednesday morning from the Illinois State Police:

UNIT:
Illinois State Police (ISP) District 9

LOCATION:
Illinois Route 121 at 900th St, Logan County

WHAT:
Single Unit Fatal Crash

VEHICLE:
Unit 1 - White, 2006 Mack Truck Semi

DRIVER:
Davey J. Elston, Jr., 53-year-old male of Lincoln, IL (Deceased)

PASSENGER: - NONE

WHEN: August 12, 2020 at approximately 11:04 a.m.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS:

A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: The Unit 1 vehicle was traveling on IL. RT 121 pulling an empty grain trailer when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway at the above location and overturned.

The Unit 1 cab became separated from the trailer and the driver was entrapped. He was later flown to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased by the Sangamon County Coroner.
