[August 28, 2020]    NASCAR Cup Series driver Bubba Wallace wants you to know two things going into weekend.

First, while many other sports have paused in protest of a Black man shot in Wisconsin on Sunday, Wallace says NASCAR will race on.

Second, referring to himself and the other drivers, "We will continue to stand for the countless victims of police brutality," he tweeted on Thursday night.

"Nothing can justify #JacobBlake being shot 7 times in the back. I proudly support my brothers and sisters from all sports backgrounds and the stance they are taking to fight for equality."

He added, "I hope you understand that by us continuing to race this weekend, DOES NOT mean we are stepping down and turning away from the dark and evil acts that have taken over our nation. Absolutely NOT."

Wallace, the only Black driver in NASCAR's top tier, also noted that NASCAR was well ahead of other sports leagues in returning to action after the coronavirus-induced pause.

"We set the tone for sports coming back during the pandemic. We stood up for change. We stood up for racial justice. We stood up for #GeorgeFloyd. We stood up for #AhmaudArbery and #Breonna Taylor."

The Xfinity series race is set for Friday night at Daytona International Speedway. The Cup Series race is slated for Saturday night at Daytona, and the Gander Truck Series race will be Sunday at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill.
